From the tender age of 13 Tim has had a fascination with tattooing after seeing a heavily tattooed man at the local swimming pool. The same evening he did small tattoos on himself with needle and Indian ink, much to the dismay of his mother. These first tattoos were followed by many of the same – small crosses and dots – on his friends, (much to the dismay of their mothers!).

Tim made his own tattoo machines at 15 and his work continued. Bigger pieces were added to himself and friends. By the age of 17 he bought his first ‘professional’ machines from Ultra Tattooing in Bradford, along with American colours. By this stage his tattoos were incurring a small charge. Profit at last!

From 1976 onwards Tim tattooed from his bedroom in his Mum’s house in Guiseley, Leeds. 1979 saw Tim tattooing on Saturdays and in the evenings, in the tap room of the Cross Pipes pub in Otley , which continued until 1982.

During the 1980s Tim tattooed countrywide! A classic truck and caravan became his mobile studio in 1987 (one of the first registered mobile studios in the UK) Tim tattooed at festivals, parties and travellers' sites until 1996 when he joined Chris Scott at Custom Tattoo in Meanwood, Leeds (where he continues to work today).

2008 saw Tim join Station Tattoo in Horsforth, Leeds, owned by friend and pupil Yiannis Aravannis. Over the years Tim has taught several other successful tattooists who now have their own businesses.

Tim does not like to limit himself to one type of tattoo, rather, his 33 years of experience allow him execute a wide range of styles with flair. His tattoos are sharp, bright, easy to read designs which will last a lifetime. His motto is “A good tattoo takes time to do”.

Self taught from day one, Tim still has a thirst to improve his knowledge and skills, attending conventions and widely studying the discipline. He continues to design and build his own unique tattoo machines and remains an ardent tattoo aficionado. He is currently amassing a mini museum of tattoo memorabilia and related artefacts, predominantly from the Leeds area.
